Your Public (YP), Baltimore’s local YPR parent company (or 88.1 WYPR and 89.7 WTMD had enlisted idfive to hit the ‘Hard Reset’ button on its brand. The first step of the process was to rename the entity into something more telling of its services and its space within the public eye. I was on the initial workshop team that worked directly with WYPR and WTMD radio announcers, hosts, and support staff in a variety of workshops aimed at renaming and redefining the entity.

Baltimore Public Media (BPM), was selected as WYPR and TMD's joint identity moniker, and required a dynamic logo suite that remains cognizant of its component stations’ personalities but inclusive of potential additional media partnerships in the future. 

In addition to running the workshops alongside our senior leadership, I designed for the new logo suite for the entity, under the supervision of our AVP of Creative and our Creative Director and working with the station staff.

 

Four approaches were presented in black and white for Round 1 after a slew of iterative sketches, and from the subsequent discussions the appropriate solution was a bit of all four—a classic Frankenstein but with a happier ending. By utilizing some of everyone’s favorite elements and deep analysis of the individual stations’ personalities, we were able to craft an amalgamation of the best of each of the logos that I presented.
